How to care for your Leather Puffer
Prior to your first wear we recommend applying a silicon free leather protector, ideally one that is specifically made for delicate or sensitive leathers.
Always waterproof your leather. Sheepskin leather should never be washed and wherever possible should avoid getting wet, hence the importance of waterproofing the puffer.
Store your leather puffer in a cool environment, away from both sunlight and moisture.
Between seasons, the Mode & Affaire satin bag is best for storage as it allows the leather to breathe.
We recommend regularly using a quality leather conditioner for keeping sheep skin fibres supple and help to preserve the character of the leather.
Leather conditioners are also useful for general cleaning and help to prevent tears.
Your jacket is more likely to tear if it hasn’t been waterproofed and/or conditioned. Overtime leather can be more brittle and less flexible which can increase the risk of a tear.
You may clean your leather with a damp cotton cloth. Use a damp cotton cloth to wipe off any grime or marks. Do not apply water directly or wash the leather as this may leave a watermark.
When applying a leather conditioner, dab gently. Use a high-quality nourishing conditioner on a clean cotton cloth and massage into all external and internal areas of the leather.
For stains, scratches or discolouration, the leather will likely require professional restoration. Please get in touch with our team if you need any further information regarding caring for your coat.
